Near the end of spring this past year, I began to contemplate how I would want to spend my summer. I had a big trip planned for September, so as a new college graduate, I knew it would be difficult for me to begin applying for full-time jobs. ‘Should I spend the summer waiting tables?’ ‘How about lifeguarding?’ These were the questions I found myself wrestling with until my roommate mentioned that her best friend worked for an awesome digital marketing company in RTP, and they happened to be looking for summer interns.
Fast forward a month, and I just received a call from Nicole that I had landed the internship. I was over-the-moon excited; I had heard such great things about this fairly new company that is revolutionizing the digital marketing landscape, and now I would be able to spend my summer gaining more first-hand experience in the industry I eventually would begin pursuing full-time. I was elated.
Beginning my internship at Netsertive was much like the first day of school: waves of nervousness and excitement. I had a few internships under my belt before starting, but had a feeling my time at Netsertive would be different than any other place I had worked before. Spoiler alert: I was right!
I hit the ground running when I joined the Corporate Marketing team at Netsertive. I immediately was given full access to the innovative work the team was doing, and everybody made a point to ask for my opinions and insights. My manager, Allison Ferguson, encouraged me to get involved in a little bit of everything and told me to speak up if there was an area of the company I wanted to learn more about. It was an internship without the feeling of being an intern.
Throughout the course of the summer, I was able to work on a variety of projects for the company, assist with a new solution launch (shoutout #YouTubePalooza), work on marketing lead campaigns, craft corporate content, build landing pages, write blogs, dabble in video production, enjoy the Food Truck Rodeo on Tuesdays, play ping-pong in the kitchen, attend two company-wide mixers and a whole lot more. Leaving Netsertive, I will be walking away with priceless experience and more confidence in my professional abilities, and I can’t wait to see where that gets me.
As my internship comes to a close and I reflect on my time here this summer, I can without a doubt say that what I will miss most about Netsertive is the people. I have had the chance to work with many talented individuals, all of whom have been welcoming to me with nothing but open arms. I’ve been able to learn so much in a very short amount of time thanks to the Netsertive team. I am grateful I have had the chance to work at a place where people are genuinely passionate about their work and have fun while they do it. While I am sad to be leaving, I couldn’t have asked for a better summer internship. It is safe to say Netsertive has set the bar high as I look for my next endeavor in the professional world!
