The holidays are just around the corner and with that comes the most charitable time of year. At Netsertive we are committed to giving back year-round. Every year our charitable giving committee, Netsertive Gives Back, seeks opportunities to partner with local and global nonprofit organizations that are making a positive social impact.
We also aim to amplify our team’s charitable participation with Volunteer Time Off (VTO), where employees can donate their time to a charity of choice during work hours.
Collectively these opportunities provide our team members ways to give back to the communities that have supported them and a fun way to interact outside the office! To recognize these opportunities and our employees’ participation this year, we’ve selected a few of our favorite feel-good moments from 2016.
In May, 20 Netsertive team members participated in the Purple Stride 5K walk/run. Together the participating team raised over $700 in donations for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, an organization dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research and supporting patients in need.
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure. The organization is leading the way to increase the survival rate for people diagnosed with this devastating disease through a bold initiative- to double the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2020. Starting in August 2016, the Netsertive team adopted a platoon in Afghanistan. Each month, the team put together care packages filled with goodies and necessities to bring comfort and relief to deployed soldiers.
The AdoptaPlatoon organization aims to provide a better deployment quality of life for American troops serving around the world, with care packages and projects to respond to their needs. Learn more about how you can provide support.
In November, Netsertive partnered with Stop Hunger Now to raise over $3,000 in donations to purchase food, water, and supplies for those affected in Haiti by Hurricane Matthew. Once the food was purchased, 50 Netsertive volunteers gathered for a meal-packing event where they set up packaging stations. The assembly line of volunteers filled bins with raw ingredients, scooped ingredients into meal bags, weighed and sealed the bags, boxed and stacked them on pallets, and loaded the pallets and equipment onto a truck.
Stop Hunger Now provides food and life-saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable people. To date, the organization has provided over 225 million meals in 74 countries. Learn more about how you can get involved.
